We worked with a US based manufacturer of Printers and digital machines hardware.

CHALLENGE

The client needed to migrate their Data Centre to the cloud and wanted to focus on their core business, selling and maintaining cost effective digital printing solutions. To achieve this they needed to reduce costs and improve IT agility by using cloud computing.

Client had several challenges with their existing IT environment, such as:

• Their hardware (network and servers etc.) was rapidly approaching its end of life
• They required to reduce operational cost including hardware maintenance costs
• They had to manage IT Infrastructure across multiple locations
• They had multiple vendors and support contracts across hardware, software, IT infrastructure and business applications, resulting in a significant management overhead
• Legacy applications that had specific operating system requirements

CLOUD MIGRATION

The project included:

• A complete study of IT infrastructure & costs, including recommendations and a detailed plan, for migration to Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• Migration of the complete in-house infrastructure and applications including SQL Server, Oracle EBS, OBIEE and Active Directory Domain controllers, as well as supporting applications such as Track-it, La Crosse, Cast Iron, Ping, Optio, and related tools
• Migration current data backups to Amazon’s S3 backups using Zmanda and Amazon Glacier
• Deployment of a Virtual Private Cloud on Amazon Web Services, with Elastic Compute Cloud and Elastic Block Store for scalable cloud computing and storage.
• Integration of the in-house Active Directory with Salesforce.

We designed and built the network architecture for client on AWS enabling access from their five separate locations. We built a Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) based site to site Virtual Private Network (VPN) between AWS and Client’s warehouses and corporate headquarters.

• Ability to run legacy applications independent of hardware or operating system restrictions leveraging Amazon Machine Imaging (AMI)
